Nicodemus Flour Co-op

In 2000, five black wheat farmers joined together to establish the Nicodemus Flour Co-op. The Kansas Cooperative Development Center in Manhattan, Kansas and Langston University in Oklahoma supported the project in its initial stages and helped secure funding from the USDA. The organizers named their product Promised Land Flour, and the first batch of flour was ground at a nearby mill in July 2001. Soon after the co-op began selling Nicodemus Pancake Mix.

You can try the Nicodemus Flour Co-0p pancake mix at the free pancake breakfast during the Annual Nicodemus Homecoming Celebration, held the last weekend in July. Or you can order a 2 pound bag in a decorative cloth sack from the Nicodemus Flour Co-op. Just add water and steady yourself for some good eating and lots of praise from your folks.
